Description: it is preserved in excellent condition and consists of a circular building in the shape of a peripteral tholos supported by six corinthian columns, resting on a square podium of poros stone. the entablature is of ionian order bearing an inscription of the choregos (financier) and a frieze with relief representations of incidents from the adventurous life of dionysus. the conical roof used to be crowned by the choregic tripod, awarded to the choregos of the tragedy that triumphed in the greater (or city) dionysia (drama contest). monuments of this kind were quite common in athens during the classical era. 335 b.c.
